The earth with one mind. Did we all think humanity into a viral epidemic?

…epidemic of doubt, mistrust?

“Compassion pulls us together – fear drives us apart.” That comes from the Global Consciousness Project, which I mentioned a few blogs ago on Cherie Lynn’s Herstory. They do not know me and I do not know them. I’m pretty certain they would not approve of Marionetta’s deranged ideas – and fears. But, they would understand my compassion and my hope to spread compassion – it brings us together.

I said to Dai we should cash out, get a boat, drop it into the Rideau Canal, back home, while we can still get across the border. What an absurd statement. What an absurd statement. What an absurd statement. What a truth.

After 9/11 I read about the Global Consciousness Project from Princeton and provide their link below. Since we all have time on our hands, read about them on their own site.

Until I was reminded by this virus, I had not thought of them in almost 20 years. As I blogged, I said I had to keep searching for the scientists who were studying “stuff” about the “stuff” that people think. It is an absolutely amazing project from Princeton University accumulating evidence that when big events have the whole world thinking the same thing, it seems to subtly change the physical world. \I do not know if they are doing anything on this, but I bet they are.

BUT…

I am Marionetta Strung-Out and of course, Cherie Lynn’s Herstory has been blogging about all this. But Marionetta needs to ask her questions too.

Since most of the public could not buy medical-grade masks and mostly bought industrial grade masks, then where did all the medical grade masks go? The “authorities” report that the US uses 1 billion annually, and that this pandemic might need as many as 350 billion. But who, inside of two months bought a billion masks?

I bet Amazon knows where a lot of them went. But if I see one more anchor snidely talk about hoarders — when most people I know cannot find one roll of toilet paper –my head will implode.

The guy from the pizza place, who intends to stay open, bought a bunch. The guy at the liquor store said he ordered toilet paper late; he has plenty of booze so far, but no TP.

Countless small businesses do not order toilet paper in bulk; they just buy it at grocery and big box stores like everyone else. The guy at the service station has not raised his prices and he does limit the number of rolls you can buy, but clearly he must have bought a bunch because he had some, at least yesterday. Maybe nobody thought to look there for it. From what I could glean from talking to the grocery people, the only ones buying TP by the pickup truckful were businesses.

Our farmer’s market posted a picture of the back of their pick-up loaded with vegetables from Pennsylvania. I hope Pennsylvanians will not be mad at us Marylanders eating their food. Looked to be beautiful potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

As the virus hit and spread, people around the world have shared the same impulses to nest and prepare. One TV anchor said people see him on the street and ask him, “What can I do? I want to help, what can I do?” It is a helpless feeling, but also one of compassion.

I have not read what the anger means. Is that part of the consciousness of fear? Here in America we have been lied to. The divide and the anger and the fear and the compassion are all playing out on Facebook like on steroids.

I wrote:

“…I am at every other day for updates. I have despaired of those who still do not believe. I wrote a post on the 19th: “Some people will not prepare, feeling like preparing is disloyal to Trump.” Family and friends have partied during America’s “spring break” (a week’s vacation in the American school system) while our governor in Maryland, and others, despaired over people still packing in like sardines to beaches and bars.

A joke began to circulate that there will be a baby boom in nine months. Looks like earth’s humanity might need it. I understand there are those who have said this virus will not be a civilization-ender. According to a scientist, whom I trust, that is true based on the infection rate and mortality rate (whatever the correct terms might be, I am sure you know what I mean).

But when a shoot-’em-up, bang-bang begins in America over the spread of the disease, and when people are dying and dropping like flies, the people who die from the shoot-out will not be counted among the virus deaths.

I am due for my cancer check on April the 8th. I get a cat-scan. All our other appointments have been cancelled by the health care centers and I bet this one will be too. After my operation in July of 2014 (this coming check will be my five year review) the surgeon told Dai the growth was like a millimeter from breaking out of my lung. She explained to him how if it had not been caught when it was, we might have had a very different outcome…

I could not write another word in my coronavirus diary. I have been anxious to get the check over this year. I have not felt well at all, months before the virus. I read that people who might have other medical needs might not get the help they need because of the virus. And of course the last place I want to be is near a hospital right now to get the cat-scan. It crossed my mind when I first began to read and follow the the virus from January. But I did not want to seem like a kook.

Stop the spread.

Governor Cuomo said the mask they paid 75 cents to 85 cents per masks, are now costing $7.00 per mask.

Then Dan Rather and Carl Bernstein were interviewed and said – we need to know WHO – that is right – that is what I said – get us the names of who is doing this.

Come on tell the populace who is doing this. This is where the 1 billion masks are – waiting for the highest bidder.

My story of heart

The “darn, aren’t we puny creatures in the face of cooties” time. Not panic buying – smart shopping.

A while back, the post I wrote:

A CNN anchor smirked at people buying water. Our governor suggested buying water. In the absence of a “virus emergency shopping list” people used the Red Cross Shopping list which includes both toilet paper and water. And we have well water and many Americans live in  the country with marginally safe water as it is. I mean think of Flint, Michigan

“…scalping prices have driven my blog since the first of February. I was raving tonight over – “where are the medical grade masks?” I got industrial grade masks last year for a clean up job in a box of 20 industrial, and we are told for 1.5 months they are no good it will not protect you. In January i checked the price of masks – industrial grade, mind you they had about doubled to 40$ per box. These N95 industrial and the surgical masks were worthless”” more or less according to every anchor on earth. So no one cared if anyone got a dozen masks that you get every year for staining decks. But in-between, USA uses 1 billion masks, medical grade, per year. Where are they? Long before the talk of American shortages, I looked for them and never found from January and certainly not February. Could anyone even buy an industrial grade for reg price, by Feb 4. I put screen captures in my blog. Already overpriced by Feb 4, the industrial grade was selling for a box of 10 for about 40 bucks. By February 24 the same company same box, delivered and fulfilled by Amazon of the Industrial grade mask for 248$ for a box of ten. But still no medical grade. Where are those medical grade masks? How is it we see people all over the world wearing masks but we should leave them for medical people. Fine. But these are the masks that one month ago did not work, that would not protect you. And snidely, anchors said, “well you can wear them but don’t dare wear them dirty, but amusing to think it would protect you. You are wasting your time wearing them” We watched day after day that Wuhan ran out of all gear. And no one thought to order here? And now all of a sudden it is, “oh you don’t need to buy toilet paper”. But Gov Cuomo or one of them said they were fooled about the person having virus because they had nausea and diarrhea. And since we can’t go out, shouldn’t we have bought enough to stay in? And Gov Hogan said to buy water. And we are on well water system, and it has had a couple pauses. Darn tootin’ I am buying water if I can find cases. But never did get toilet paper for more than about 2.5 3 weeks. And, The Post wants 29.00 a year for people to read it. Yes, a bargain, but damnit it is too bad the virus stories could not be free. I write the check every year for our Post home delivery, and one online sign in. He has that, and by damn, I do not want a thing “free” from them and for the Post to snidely say, they think the drop to $29 a year is a bargain. So everybody gets their piece, even in an emergency. The hospitals cannot afford ventilators and the local people of metro DC cannot get reliable information because they can never afford it…”
